About Patricia Sherman

Dr. Patricia Sherman’s blog is a safe place for those who treat children or adult trauma survivors to ask questions and share insights.

Dr. Patricia Sherman is assistant professor of social work and Director of the Bachelor of Social Work program at Kean University in Union, NJ.

Dr. Patricia Sherman received her master’s and doctorate degrees in social work from Rutgers University.

She had a private practice for twenty years specializing in treating issues of sexual trauma, grief, chronic and terminal illness and adoption. Currently she has a consulting and training practice called Healing Is Possible, LLC.

Dr. Patricia Sherman is a sought-after speaker on topics ranging from bereavement, child sexual abuse, cultural proficiency and how to care for yourself while caring for others. Dr. Patricia Sherman has spoken at numerous conferences. She provides consultation to therapists and first responders who work with those who have suffered personal trauma.

Dr. Patricia Sherman is the author of From Tragedy to Triumph: How to Heal From Trauma and Start Living Happy Life.

As a survivor of severe childhood physical, sexual, and emotional abuses, Dr Patricia Sherman reaches out and helps other survivors overcome abuse and experience healing.

Dr. Patricia Sherman knows her own healing was possible because of the belief held by her own therapist that, one day, Patricia could heal. Patricia Sherman borrowed this hope for a long time before she had any of her own.

Today, Dr. Patricia Sherman knows a critical part of the healing process is therapists' believing trauma survivors have capacities for recovery and healing.

Dr. Patricia Sherman lives with her spouse, two children and an assortment of animals in New Jersey. She can be reached at her web site http://www.healingispossible.com
