While I am not aware of any systematic research on the efficacy of physiotherapy for PTSD, anecdotally it seems to be a valuable tool in the treatment of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
There is an article at http://www.idsc.sa.gov.au/publications/data/pdfs/HBMay2001.pdf that discusses the value of physiotherapy in the treatment of PTSD.
Physical therapy can be helpful to deal with muscle tension that may be a direct or indirect result of the trauma that was experienced.
There may also be musculoskeletal injuries that could have been suffered from the trauma; these injuries can be helped by physical therapy.
